The company is seeking an experienced Lead Site Reliability Engineer to establish and lead a new Site Operations team responsible for the 24/7 operational reliability of their systems.
This role is significant as the first Midnite representative in Australia, marking an exciting milestone for the company.
The Site Operations team will collaborate closely with existing Platform and Backend Engineering teams to ensure the platform is always operational, fast, and resilient.
The Lead Site Reliability Engineer will define, build, and scale the function to detect, respond to, and resolve incidents promptly, providing world-class operational support.
This position is high-impact and high-autonomy, where the individual will be relied upon during incidents and respected for improvements made.
Requirements:
Proven experience managing SRE or Ops-focused engineering teams in a high-availability production environment is required.
A deep understanding of incident management, including building and leading effective on-call rotations, is essential.
The candidate must remain calm under pressure and lead incident responses effectively.
A strong systems thinking mindset is necessary, with an understanding of how infrastructure, code, and people interact under load.
The individual should have experience in improving complex systems and building better tools, particularly in Python.
A belief in Infrastructure as Code as the default approach is expected.
The candidate should have a strong, informed stance on tooling and architecture based on experience.
Experience with modern stacks beyond legacy systems is preferred.
The individual must come from a software engineering background, having written, shipped, and supported production systems.
Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, ECS, RDS), observability stacks (e.g., Datadog, CloudWatch, Sentry), and CI/CD pipelines is required.
The candidate should be a collaborative, async-native communicator who thrives in distributed teams across time zones.
Nice to have: Experience in betting, gaming, or regulated real-time systems, and experience scaling globally distributed engineering functions.
