Remote Lead Software Engineer

• We are a fast-growing, AI-driven travel startup seeking an experienced Engineering Lead to join as a Founding Engineer.
• This is a high-impact role for someone with strong technical expertise, proven startup experience, and a passion for building innovative products using the latest in AI and automation.
• You will be instrumental in shaping our product and engineering culture while working closely with cross-functional, global teams.
• Responsibilities include leading the design and development of core products using Node.js, React, and TypeScript.
• You will work hands-on with code while providing engineering oversight during US working hours.
• Collaborating closely with founders to ensure seamless alignment between engineering and business needs is essential.
• You will manage code quality through reviews, mentoring, and clear technical direction.
• Coordinating and communicating with distributed teams across the US, Sri Lanka, the Philippines, and Latin America is required.
• You will help recruit and build a full-time, high-performing engineering team.
• Contributing to the product roadmap and driving innovation in AI-powered travel experiences is a key responsibility.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a founding engineer or engineering lead in a fast-paced startup environment is required.
• Strong technical expertise in Node.js, React, and TypeScript, with a focus on scalable and maintainable architecture is necessary.
• Hands-on experience building and shipping products at a consumer-facing startup, ideally with high design and UX standards, is essential.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and collaborate with distributed teams across multiple time zones is required.
• Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to align engineering with business goals, are necessary.
• Deep curiosity and practical knowledge of modern AI tools, agentic workflows, and AI-assisted development platforms (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor) is required.
• Availability to work primarily during US business hours is necessary.
• Willingness to travel to the US once a month for in-person collaboration is required.
• Fully committed to the role—no part-time or side projects are allowed.
• A US visa is a plus.
