GoFundMe is seeking an experienced WordPress Engineer to contribute to the development, customization, and maintenance of high-performance WordPress websites and applications.
The role involves working closely with designers, content creators, and other developers to deliver scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions aligned with business goals.
Responsibilities include the development and maintenance of custom WordPress themes and plugins, implementing sustainable strategies for content management, and architecting scalable WordPress solutions for high-traffic websites.
The engineer will collaborate with design and product teams to translate UI/UX designs into functional WordPress implementations, ensuring design consistency across the GoFundMe experience.
Additional tasks include integrating third-party APIs, contributing to code reviews, optimizing websites for SEO and performance, managing WordPress hosting configurations, and staying updated with WordPress core updates and vulnerabilities.
The position requires debugging and troubleshooting issues across the stack, including front-end, PHP back-end, database, and server environments.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 8+ years of professional WordPress development experience.
Advanced proficiency in PHP, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, CSS3/SASS, and MySQL is required.
Strong experience in custom WordPress theme and plugin development is essential.
A solid understanding of WordPress core, hooks, filters, REST API, and multisite environments is necessary.
Candidates should have strong experience with ACF, Gutenberg/Block Editor, and third-party integrations.
Knowledge of WordPress hosting solutions and domain management is required.
Proficiency with Node, npm, Git, Gulp, Webpack, Bootstrap, jQuery, Tailwind, and modern development frameworks is expected.
Experience with localization, modern translation plugins, and large-scale multisite installations is preferred.
Candidates should have experience with performance and media optimization, caching strategies, and WordPress security best practices.
Strong debugging and problem-solving skills are necessary, along with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
