• The Machine Learning Engineer will take full ownership of model development and collaborate with product managers, engineers, and the executive team.
• The role involves leading the full data science project lifecycle, including data retrieval, wrangling, model training, validation, deployment, and monitoring.
• The engineer will design and apply various natural language processing techniques, particularly with medical or legal domain text.
• Responsibilities include implementing and deploying models into real-time applications using containerization technologies like Docker.
• The position requires understanding practical business implications when developing models and applying domain knowledge for maximum impact.
• An iterative approach to software development is encouraged, delivering value early and often.
• The engineer will work with technologies such as Scala, TypeScript, PostgresQL, GraphQL, Elasticsearch, AWS, and Python, and utilize tools like PyTorch, SageMaker, and HuggingFace Transformers.
• Experience with models like BERT, Sentence Transformers, ViTs, CNNs, multimodal models, and commercial LLM is preferred.

Requirements:

• A Master’s degree in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Computer Science, or a related field is required, or 2+ years of equivalent work experience in a comparable full-time data science role.
• A minimum of 2+ years of experience applying NLP techniques and information retrieval, with a strong understanding of modeling and evaluation methods is necessary.
• Proficiency in Scala or Python is required.
• Experience in the medical domain is considered a plus.
• Candidates must be able to share samples of professional, educational, or personal projects that demonstrate their skills.
