Remote Mid Back-end Engineer (NodeJS) – Risk&Capital

Description:

• The company is a Polish branch of a fast-growing InsurTech product company from Silicon Valley, Hippo Insurance, focused on revolutionizing home insurance in the US.
• The role is for a Mid Backend Developer in the Risk & Capital team, responsible for building the data infrastructure needed to manage risk across Hippo.
• The position involves creating integrations, microservices, and data pipelines to connect with industry-standard risk and capital models and tools.
• This is a long-term greenfield project that presents complex, large-scale data challenges using a modern tech stack.
• The developer will collaborate closely with a talented team and develop expertise in the insurance carrier domain.
• Responsibilities include partnering with product, data engineering, analytics, and business teams to drive projects from concept to delivery, designing and maintaining backend solutions, shaping software architecture, ensuring software quality, and balancing system maintenance with new feature development.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have 4+ years of hands-on software development experience.
• Proficiency in TypeScript and NestJS is required.
• Familiarity with Python is preferred.
• Experience working with large and complex databases is necessary.
• Understanding and application of software development best practices, including clean code, testing, and maintainability, is essential.
• Candidates should take ownership of their work, demonstrating accountability and a drive to deliver impactful solutions.
• Strong collaboration skills with product, analytics, and business teams are required.
• Active participation in discussions and sharing ideas is expected.
• Candidates should seek feedback and mentorship for continuous growth.
• A great command of English (written and spoken) is necessary.
• Availability to work in the afternoon hours, including occasional evening meetings due to U.S. time zone collaboration, is required.
• Extra points for experience with Google Cloud Platform and BigQuery, as well as familiarity with data warehouses.
