The primary focus will be on integrating ML-driven credit and eligibility models into Cleo's Ruby on Rails monolith.
Responsibilities include owning the productionisation of services, from data ingestion and interface design to monitoring, alerting, and runtime observability.
The position requires close collaboration with ML engineers, analysts, and PMs to expose model outputs, debug anomalies, and provide necessary tooling for stakeholders.
The role also involves contributing to the wider Ruby chapter to improve the Ruby monolith for users and fellow engineers.
Requirements:
Candidates must be backend engineers comfortable in technically complex domains, especially those involving machine learning, financial decisioning, or large-scale data systems.
Proficiency in Ruby and experience in building and maintaining production systems that interface with machine learning models, data pipelines, or high-throughput decision engines is required.
Exposure to Python and ML concepts is a plus, but deep ML knowledge is not mandatory.
A strong focus on observability, system reliability, and deployment best practices is essential.
Candidates should be data-aware, understanding data lifecycle, ownership, transformations, and downstream consumer reliance.
Strong cross-functional collaboration skills are necessary to work effectively with product managers, analysts, and ML engineers.
