The Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) will be responsible for the administration, maintenance, tuning, backup, and recovery of Oracle database environments.
This role involves supporting all production and development/test systems, ensuring database performance, availability, and compliance with security and continuity requirements.
The position is remote (work from home).
Responsibilities include providing maintenance and support for Oracle databases and associated applications.
The DBA will ensure database system configurations are compliant with the Continuity of Operations Plan.
The role requires managing operating systems and system-level processes for production and test environments.
The DBA will perform function process mapping and support automation of application-based workflows.
Maintaining version and patch levels of enterprise applications and databases is essential.
The DBA will monitor database health using system tools and logs, escalating and responding to alerts based on severity.
Continuous monitoring of the performance, availability, and security of Oracle systems is required.
The DBA will review dashboards, logs (e.g., /var/log/messages), and alerting systems to detect anomalies.
Identifying, classifying, and responding to Oracle-related system incidents (performance, downtime, or security) is part of the role.
Performing root cause analysis (RCA) and documenting incident response and resolution steps in ticketing systems is necessary.
The DBA will implement preventive measures to reduce incident recurrence.
Conducting routine database tuning and optimization (e.g., index rebuilding, performance logs) is expected.
Maintaining documentation and asset inventories including licensing and patch compliance is required.
The DBA will perform and verify daily, weekly, and periodic Oracle database backups.
Simulating restore procedures and documenting RTO/RPO compliance and recovery timeframes is part of the job.
Maintaining rollback procedures and documentation for all production changes is essential.
The DBA will create, manage, and remove user accounts and roles according to access policies.
Requirements:
Strong experience in Oracle database administration including tuning, patching, and upgrades is required.
Proficiency in scripting and monitoring tools for performance management is necessary.
Knowledge of backup solutions, disaster recovery planning, and failover techniques is essential.
Familiarity with compliance frameworks and federal IT regulations (HIPAA, 508, etc.) is required.
The ability to document technical changes, incidents, and configurations thoroughly is necessary.
