Remote Platform Engineer: Compute & Scaling

Description:

• Supabase is an Open Source and fully remote company building developer tools for databases.
• The company is seeking a platform engineer to join the Compute & Scaling squad, which owns the critical systems for project provisioning, scaling, and compute services.
• The role involves working on the core platform to ensure Supabase can scale across multiple regions, handle high-volume workloads, and provide low-latency, highly available compute services.
• Responsibilities include designing, building, and operating robust and highly automated systems for reliable project provisioning at scale, optimizing resource utilization, and delivering a seamless experience to the 3.5M databases managed by Supabase.
• As part of the Compute Squad, the engineer will help build and maintain the Supabase Cloud offering, design and implement systems for multi-region compute workloads, own the full lifecycle of compute orchestration, improve automation and observability, enhance system architecture, collaborate with other teams, participate in on-call rotations, and resolve escalated support issues.

Requirements:

• Candidates should have 3+ years of experience building and operating cloud infrastructure or distributed systems at scale.
• A minimum of 5+ years of experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure, or similar), particularly in compute, networking, and storage services, is required.
• Strong software engineering skills in Go and Typescript are necessary.
• A strong understanding of container orchestration systems such as Kubernetes or Nomad is essential.
• Knowledge of networking and multi-region infrastructure design is required.
• Familiarity with Postgres or other database systems is preferred.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools, with a preference for Pulumi, and familiarity with Terraform/CDK is acceptable.
• Candidates should have experience being part of on-call rotations for large production systems.
