The Platform Engineer role is strategic, focused on building and scaling the foundations of Onebrief’s Commercial-off-the-Shelf (COTS) application across government environments at multiple classification levels.
The position requires collaboration with DevOps, Site Reliability, and application engineers, with a focus on technical ownership and clarity in delivery.
The role is remote-first, ideally for candidates located near military hubs and government contracts, such as San Diego, Honolulu, Seattle, Colorado Springs, Austin, Washington, DC, or Tampa.
An active Secret security clearance is required, with a willingness to obtain TS/SCI.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 5+ years of experience in Platform, DevOps, or Site Reliability Engineering with a focus on infrastructure and operations.
Proven ability to collaborate effectively with DevOps/SRE and application teams, sharing context openly.
Strong documentation habits and clear, concise writing skills are essential for async communication.
Technical expertise in Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform (or CloudFormation) and Ansible is required.
Experience with containers and orchestration, specifically Docker and Kubernetes design, deployment, and operations, is necessary.
Candidates should have experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions.
Proficiency in scripting with at least one language, such as Python, Go, or Bash, is required.
Familiarity with cloud services (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and on-prem virtualization is necessary.
Knowledge of observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, or Datadog is required.
Understanding of networking fundamentals, including core protocols and secure configurations, is essential.
U.S. citizenship is required, and candidates must be eligible for a Top Secret clearance.
Bonus points for experience in DoD environments, GitOps practices, security-minded design, service mesh exposure, relevant certifications, and strong interpersonal skills.
