Remote PostgreSQL Database Support Engineer - EMEA (Remote)

Description:

• Percona Support is a global team of engineers focused on understanding and resolving complex database behaviors.
• The role involves collaborating with industry experts and developing personal skills in database management.
• Main responsibilities include assisting customers' DBA teams by gathering data, investigating issues, and providing detailed analyses through various communication methods.
• For critical issues, the engineer will conduct screen-sharing sessions to help resolve problems quickly.
• Additional tasks include authoring blog posts, answering forum questions, creating knowledge base articles, and hosting webinars.
• This is a remote position, allowing candidates to work from anywhere with a stable internet connection.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have good hands-on knowledge of PostgreSQL and its provided tools and contribution modules.
• A strong skill set in the PostgreSQL ecosystem of tools and technologies is required.
• Knowledge of performance tuning, query optimization, and index tuning is essential.
• Familiarity with backup solutions such as pg base backup, pgBackRest, and WAL-G, as well as Point-in-Time Recovery, is necessary.
• Experience with high availability solutions, including replication and proxies, is required.
• Exposure to zero-downtime procedures and a good understanding of monitoring requirements are important.
• Demonstrable experience in administering Linux-based systems is needed.
• Candidates should possess the ability to troubleshoot methodically and think creatively to resolve complex issues.
• A self-taught attitude and enthusiasm for learning new technologies are essential.
• Availability to travel for occasional team meetings, conferences, or customer visits is required.
• Experience working with customers in English is necessary.
• Knowledge of Kubernetes is highly desirable.
