Sleek is seeking a Principal Data Engineer to work closely with cross-functional teams to translate business vision into impactful data solutions.
The role involves driving the alignment of data architecture requirements with strategic goals, ensuring solutions meet analytical needs and advance core objectives.
Responsibilities include defining greenfield data architecture using GCP - BigQuery, establishing best practices for data ingestion, transformation, quality, and governance.
The engineer will lead the design and implementation of ETL/ELT pipelines, ensuring data quality and reliability.
Governance and security measures will be implemented, including defining IAM policies and compliance controls.
The role requires defining SLAs, SLOs, and SLIs for data products and implementing observability tooling.
The engineer will partner with BI/analytics teams to deliver governed self-service and support squad-level data product ownership.
Team leadership responsibilities include mentoring a small data engineering team and collaborating with product managers and leadership.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 10+ years of experience in data engineering, architecture, or platform roles.
Strong expertise in the GCP data stack, including BigQuery, GCS, Dataplex, Data Catalog, Pub/Sub, and Dataflow is required.
Hands-on experience in building ETL/ELT pipelines with dbt and orchestration tools like Composer, Airflow, or Dagster is necessary.
Deep knowledge of data modeling, warehousing, and partitioning/clustering strategies is essential.
Experience with monitoring, reliability engineering, and observability for data systems is required.
Familiarity with data governance, lineage, and security policies such as IAM, DLP, and encryption is important.
Strong SQL skills and solid knowledge of Python for data engineering are mandatory.
Nice-to-have qualifications include experience with Snowflake, Databricks, AWS, or Azure Synapse, knowledge of open-source catalogs, and exposure to data observability tools.
