As the first Principal Data Platform Engineer, you will design and implement a scalable, secure, and high-performance data platform.
This role is part of the Infrastructure & Security organization and focuses on enabling secure data workflows in classified, cloud, and field-deployed environments.
You will define and operationalize the data platform strategy within the InfraSec team, supporting secure, scalable deployments in classified and edge environments.
The position is hands-on, requiring you to design and improve architecture and data pipelines while advising teams on technical requirements for data integrations and deployments.
Requirements:
You must have 8+ years of experience in software, data, or platform engineering roles, focusing on building and operating secure data infrastructure.
Experience in leading technical projects and mentoring engineers is required.
Client-facing experience supporting deployments, integrations, or technical deliverables in government or defense contexts is necessary.
You should be willing to travel up to 30% to support field deployments, secure facilities, and stakeholder engagement.
Proficiency in SQL, Python, and TypeScript is essential.
Expertise in PostgreSQL and cloud-hosted relational databases, such as AWS RDS, is required.
Experience with data streaming (e.g., Kafka), orchestration (e.g., Apache Airflow), and visualization tools (e.g., Apache Superset) is necessary.
Familiarity with ETL/ELT pipelines and distributed data systems is required.
Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform) is essential.
You must be comfortable working with systems deployed in low-connectivity or classified environments.
An active DoD Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility is required, along with the ability to obtain and maintain special program access.
Security+ or an equivalent DoD 8570.01-approved certification is preferred.
