  • The Principal Engineer, Data Science will be a key member of the AdSmart Product Engineering Team at NBCUniversal.
  • This role involves data science engineering to build the platform and products for NBCUniversal’s Universal Workstation.
  • The audience management products will help NBCUniversal understand its brand audiences, including NBC News, Bravo, The Tonight Show, Saturday Night Live, and USA Network.
  • The goal is to identify who is watching what, where, and when, enabling sales teams to align audiences with beneficial market advertisements.
  • The candidate should be a big thinker, capable of analyzing long-range opportunities, architecting solutions, and coding when necessary.
  • The role requires a data-driven and analytical mindset, with an understanding of value propositions and evaluation criteria.
  • The Principal Engineer will participate in data architecture initiatives within NBCUniversal’s Audience Studio group.
  • Responsibilities include serving as a Principal Data Scientist for AdSmart data products, executing a product roadmap, developing core data science services, and analyzing results to adjust engineering strategies.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field is required.
  • The candidate must have 15+ years of software development experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience with linear television or digital advertising technologies is necessary.
  • Strong knowledge of data structures and algorithms is essential.
  • The ability to apply data science theory effectively to advertising and audience data is required.
  • Fluency in Python modeling is mandatory.
  • An understanding of statistical concepts is necessary.
  • Experience in numerical optimization, natural language processing, forecasting, deep learning, and machine learning techniques is required.
  • The candidate should have 8+ years of experience with relational database design (SQL), non-relational (NoSQL), big data, and real-time technologies.
  • The ability to transition between high-level strategy and day-to-day implementation is essential.
