Remote Principal Machine Learning Engineer

Description:

• We are seeking an experienced and innovative Principal AI/ML Engineer to lead the architecture and development of a high-performance AI/ML platform.
• This is a hands-on leadership role that will drive technical direction, mentor engineering teams, and deliver scalable, secure, and business-impactful AI/ML solutions.
• You will collaborate cross-functionally with product, security, and engineering teams, while shaping the long-term AI/ML strategy and advancing platform capabilities.
• Key responsibilities include architecting, developing, and deploying a scalable and robust AI/ML platform, leading the design of complex systems to support advanced AI/ML models and business needs, and collaborating across teams to deliver impactful AI/ML solutions.
• You will guide technical direction and continuous improvement across teams, define and execute AI/ML roadmaps, track OKRs and system performance, and provide mentorship and leadership to build an inclusive, high-performing engineering team.
• The role also involves contributing hands-on to architecture, development, deployment, and production operations, driving engineering best practices including automation, quality, and modern development frameworks, and fostering a culture of transparency, collaboration, and innovation.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have 15–20 years of large-scale software design and development experience.
• Proficient programming skills with the ability and willingness to code in Java and Python are required.
• Proven experience building supervised and unsupervised machine learning models is mandatory.
• Strong knowledge of distributed computing frameworks such as Ray and Spark is essential.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Terraform is necessary.
• Expertise with cloud platforms, preferably AWS, including S3, EMR, and Lambda is required.
• Extensive experience with Big Data and large-scale data platforms, especially for AI/ML, is needed.
• Strong CI/CD and Agile software development experience is a must.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills are required.
• Demonstrated experience mentoring engineers across varying levels of expertise is essential.
• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field is required.
