Vanta is seeking a Principal Software Engineer for their Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) product, which aims to help customers scale their GRC programs through streamlined workflows, AI, and continuous control monitoring.
The role involves identifying key engineering-wide strategic technical initiatives and setting the tone for overall engineering excellence and culture.
Responsibilities include solving complex, high-impact problems, leading projects with multiple cross-functional stakeholders, and delivering significant business impact.
The engineer will set technical direction for the engineering team, focusing on critical systems, core product abstractions, and developer productivity while maintaining high quality standards.
The position requires designing, developing, and owning new product functionality and infrastructure using modern frameworks and tooling such as TypeScript, React, and Node.js.
The engineer will tackle ambiguous problem areas and long-term challenges, making effective tradeoffs that consider business priorities and user experience.
The role also involves mentoring junior team members and acting as a cultural beacon for effective, collaborative engineering.
Requirements:
Candidates must have significant technical leadership experience in larger organizations and complex projects.
A balance of customer focus, bias for action, and the ability to make long-term, medium-term, and short-term decisions is essential.
Experience in communicating and working closely with a large set of cross-functional stakeholders is required.
Candidates should have a track record of upleveling teams of engineers through mentoring and leading by example.
A self-starter attitude with a mix of startup experience and experience in larger scale environments is necessary.
Experience in building architectural changes with multi-year impacts or deep expertise in technology is required.
An interest in learning about security or prior experience in the security space is preferred.
Experience working in rapidly scaling startups and large companies that prioritize a bias for action is essential.
