The Program Chief Engineer will lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers to develop complex engineering solutions for a long-term customer program.
This position reports to the Vice President of Systems Engineering and collaborates with various technical and business leaders.
The ideal candidate should have expertise in satellites, Electro-Optical payloads, ground systems, space communications, software development, and program management.
The candidate must be a self-starter, organized, and able to manage competing priorities in resource-constrained environments.
Preference is given to candidates local to Herndon, VA, but strong remote candidates willing to travel may also be considered.
Responsibilities include ensuring technical performance, collaborating with management and customers, driving data-driven decision-making, and maintaining program architecture.
The role involves conducting data analysis, leading capability evaluations, and addressing customer issues with innovative solutions.
Requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience is required.
At least 15 years of relevant experience, including five years in the remote sensing industry, is necessary.
Strong knowledge of satellite system architectures and satellite ground software systems is essential.
Experience in architecting complex software systems and deriving and prioritizing requirements is required.
The ability to decompose complex problems into manageable components is necessary.
Familiarity with Software Engineering best practices, including agile development, is required.
Experience in designing Software APIs, system integrations, and Data Models is essential.
Familiarity with the software life cycle and tools like JIRA and Git is required.
Effective communication skills to represent architectural and engineering concepts to various stakeholders are necessary.
Experience in developing Concepts of Operations and engineering requirements based on customer and mission needs is required.
Strong knowledge of satellite ground system architectures is essential.
Demonstrated experience in defining and documenting system Concepts of Operations, functional requirements, and performance requirements is required.
Must be a U.S.-born citizen.
