Description:

  • The role involves providing technical knowledge and implementation skills for research, development, consulting, software creation, technical marketing, and customer support.
  • Responsibilities include designing and developing new algorithms or software in machine learning, visualization, graphics, image processing, and computational sciences by applying systems analysis techniques and procedures.
  • The engineer will implement, document, analyze, create, test, and modify computer systems or programs, including prototypes based on user/system design specifications.
  • The position requires creating and providing new technology and consulting support to customers and Kitware personnel.
  • Participation in the research community is expected, including attending conferences and publishing research.
  • The engineer must maintain state-of-the-art knowledge of current research topics, including deep learning and traditional machine learning fields.
  • The role includes assisting in the preparation of funding proposals to research agencies and commercial firms.
  • Participation in the development of new products and improvement of existing products by introducing new technology and software implementations is required.
  • Some domestic travel may be involved, and candidates may undergo background checks.

Requirements:

  • A Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field is required.
  • Candidates must have skills in machine learning and deep learning projects.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C++, C, or Python is necessary.
  • Experience in cross-platform software development using build tools with a variety of compilers and IDEs across platforms is required.
  • Candidates should have experience developing software for Unix, Linux, MacOS, or Windows operating systems, particularly for large open-source projects and communities.
  • Required skills can be gained concurrently with education, and skills will be assessed through the passage of a technical screen or interview.
