The Residual Data Analyst will be responsible for analyzing, calculating, and validating residual partner payments, referral fees, and other revenue-sharing obligations across the ecosystem of ISVs and referral partners.
This role requires deep expertise in the payments industry, strong data science and analytical skills, and the ability to navigate complex partner agreements and transaction datasets.
The ideal candidate will ensure accurate, timely, and transparent reporting and payment processes that strengthen partner relationships and support the integrity of financial operations.
Key responsibilities include analyzing and calculating monthly residual payments, referral commissions, and partner fees based on transaction data, fee structures, and partner agreements.
The analyst will extract, transform, and analyze large datasets from payment processors and internal databases to ensure the integrity of financial calculations.
The role involves building advanced Excel workbooks, including complex formulas, macros, and dynamic dashboards to automate residual calculations and reporting processes.
The analyst will develop and maintain partner-facing and internal dashboards using Tableau, Power BI, or similar tools to provide clear insights into residual payments, partner performance, and financial trends.
Generating detailed partner statements and troubleshooting inquiries related to residual payments, referral fees, and program performance is also part of the job.
The analyst will interpret and operationalize partner agreements, applying complex fee splits, bonuses, thresholds, and adjustments accurately within reporting models.
Continuous improvement of automation and scalability of residual processes, reducing manual intervention while maintaining data accuracy and auditability is expected.
The role requires cross-functional collaboration with Finance, Business Development, Legal, and Operations teams to ensure residual processes align with broader financial and contractual frameworks.
Requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Business/Economics, or a related field is required.
The candidate must have 3+ years of experience in the payments industry, preferably with a processor, ISO, ISV, or FinTech.
Expert-level Excel skills, including advanced formulas, pivot tables, macros, and data validation tools, are necessary.
Proficiency in database querying and transaction-level data analysis is required.
A deep understanding of payment processing structures, passthrough billing, absorbed billing, interchange-plus pricing, BIN sponsorship models, and residual payment streams is essential.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail are required.
The ability to translate complex contract terms into accurate, scalable financial models and reports is necessary.
Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical and financial details clearly are required.
The candidate must be self-motivated, highly organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred qualifications include prior experience building or managing a residuals management platform or automated reporting module, strong experience with data visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI), familiarity with API-based data extraction and integration methods, and a background in working with acquirers, payment gateways, merchant reporting systems, or embedded finance ecosystems.
Experience supporting partner operations or revenue accounting functions in a growing company environment is preferred.
Fluency in Spanish is preferred.
