Remote Search & AI Jr. Engineer

Description:

• Join the Engineering team to help shape the future of AI-powered shopping experiences across global software platforms.
• Work as a Search Relevance Engineer to enhance and maintain Elastic Search and data pipeline systems.
• Develop and manage e-commerce search microservices for Rebuy Engine’s Smart Search platform.
• Engineer workflows for Search and Autocomplete APIs.
• Design and implement custom ranking and re-ranking algorithms for Smart Search.
• Develop and refine a Hybrid Search system integrating lexical and semantic search capabilities.
• Implement Elastic/Cohere models for generating AI search embeddings.
• Perform backend systems tuning to ensure optimal search speed.
• Establish automated systems for analyzing search result quality and relevance.
• Set up alerting systems for monitoring search engine performance.
• Collaborate as a technical member in design partnerships focused on customer-driven product development.

Requirements:

• A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience is required.
• A minimum of 3+ years of experience in deploying production-level systems is necessary.
• A strong desire to learn and apply cutting-edge patterns in search and AI technologies is essential.
• Proficiency in the Go programming language and/or experience with other languages such as Python, Rust, or TypeScript is required.
• Experience or a strong desire to master Elasticsearch core concepts, including indexing, search algorithms, and query syntax, is needed.
• A commitment to staying current with the latest research and trends in machine learning is expected.
• Excellent communication and listening skills are required.
• Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively and organize work independently is essential.
• The capacity to collaborate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders is necessary.
