Remote Senior Android Software Engineer - Hardware/Firmware

Description:

• Skylight is seeking a Senior Android Software Engineer to join their small but impactful engineering team.
• The role involves developing software for consumer products like Skylight Frame and Skylight Calendar, which are used by millions globally.
• The candidate will work closely with a Firmware engineer to write Kotlin in APKs for custom hardware solutions.
• Responsibilities include owning and supporting a utility app for health checks and version installations, improving the Android team's architectural direction, and addressing tech debt.
• The engineer will implement best practices in Android build and deployment processes and collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to develop new features.
• The position requires writing high-quality, reusable, and maintainable code in Kotlin, maintaining a comprehensive test suite, optimizing application performance, and ensuring scalable architecture.
• Participation in code reviews and contributing to performance monitoring processes is also expected.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have extensive experience (6+ years) in developing native Android applications.
• Expertise in the Kotlin programming language and Android SDK is required.
• A strong understanding of Android application architecture and design patterns is essential.
• Candidates should have expertise in the release management cycle.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills are necessary.
