Remote Senior Back-End Engineer

Description:

• AKKO is seeking a Senior Back-End Engineer with expertise in Python, Flask, and PostgreSQL.
• The role involves designing, developing, and maintaining back-end systems that power AKKO's products.
• Responsibilities include collaborating with front-end developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality, scalable, and robust solutions.
• Daily tasks include designing and maintaining scalable web applications, leading implementation of key product features, and contributing to strategic planning for technology and product development.
• The engineer will leverage AI and machine learning tools to enhance claims automation, fraud detection, and predictive analytics.
• The position requires writing clean, maintainable code and ensuring high standards for security, reliability, and maintainability.
• Mentoring junior engineers and staying updated on industry trends are also key aspects of the role.
• This is a full-time contract position that requires availability to overlap with 9:00am-5:00pm EST.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have 6+ years of experience in back-end development, preferably with startup experience.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required, along with a strong portfolio of relevant projects.
• Proficiency in Python/Flask, PostgreSQL, Google Datastore, Postman, and Pytest is essential.
• Strong experience with relational databases and data modeling is necessary.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud is required.
• Experience with microservices architecture and RESTful API design is expected.
• Knowledge of containerization technologies like Docker is important.
• Candidates should demonstrate the ability to lead initiatives and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions in fast-paced environments are crucial.
• A passion for engineering and delivering quality work is essential.
• Experience working on a scrum team and understanding agile methodologies is preferred.
• Nice-to-haves include experience with Vue.js, React/React Native, JavaScript/TypeScript, and Kubernetes.
