Remote Senior Backend Developer (NodeJS)

Description:

• The Senior Backend Developer will architect and develop scalable server-side applications and APIs using Node.js.
• The role involves designing database schemas and managing data workflows using relational and/or noSQL databases such as PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
• The developer will build and maintain RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs for front-end consumption.
• Responsibilities include optimizing system performance, reliability, and security across multiple early-stage product builds.
• The position requires collaboration with front-end developers to ensure seamless integration between front and back-end systems.
• The developer will support rapid prototyping for early concept validation and MVP development.
• Maintaining clean, well-documented, and testable code across projects is essential.
• The role includes mentoring junior developers and contributing to establishing engineering best practices within the team.
• Other role-specific duties may arise as needed.

Requirements:

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is mandatory.
• Candidates must have 5+ years of professional experience as a back-end developer with a strong focus on Node.js.
• Solid experience in designing and working with APIs (REST and/or GraphQL) is required.
• A strong understanding of data modeling and database systems (SQL and NoSQL) is necessary.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure and deployment pipelines is expected.
• Knowledge of authentication, authorization, and security best practices, including OAuth and JWT, is essential.
• Experience with unit testing and integration testing frameworks, such as Mocha and Jest, is required.
• The ability to thrive in fast-paced environments and contribute across multiple product lifecycles is important.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and communication abilities are necessary.

Nice to have:

• DevOps knowledge or interest in infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform is a plus.
• Exposure to serverless computing, such as AWS Lambda or Vercel Functions, is beneficial.
• Experience with event-driven architecture or microservices is advantageous.
• Familiarity with containerization tools like Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes is a plus.
• Prior experience in a venture studio or startup environment is desirable.
