Remote Senior Backend Engineer

Description:

• We are looking for a Senior Backend Developer who will join one of our feature squads and take projects from inception to delivery.
• The role involves designing, building, and maintaining backend systems and services that power our platform.
• Responsibilities include extending and evolving our backend stack, collaborating with product managers, designers, and engineers, and ensuring performance and reliability in everything built.
• The position is open to fully remote candidates within Australia or those who prefer to work from our head office in Ultimo, Sydney.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Senior Backend Developer, ideally in a fast-moving product or SaaS environment.
• Deep expertise in backend development using modern frameworks and tools.
• Experience with TypeScript and/or PHP, with proficiency in one being essential and experience with both highly desirable.
• Solid understanding of relational databases (MySQL) and exposure to NoSQL solutions like DynamoDB.
• Experience in building and maintaining scalable APIs, with familiarity in federated GraphQL being a strong plus.
• A focus on writing clean, maintainable code with an emphasis on performance, testing, and long-term maintainability.
• A pragmatic mindset, comfortable with both legacy code and future architecture planning.
