The Senior Backend Engineer will help architect and scale systems that power Tilt, including livestreams, checkout, auctions, personalization, and payments.
The role is part of the Core team, which is responsible for foundational infrastructure, performance, and reliability.
Responsibilities include designing and building scalable APIs and backend services for millions of real-time user interactions, owning core infrastructure, improving performance and reliability, collaborating across teams, and defining backend best practices.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 5+ years of experience building production-grade systems.
Experience in early-stage startups or high-growth environments is required.
Expertise in the Node.js ecosystem is essential.
A strong understanding of backend architecture and scalable system design is necessary.
Deep experience with AWS and infrastructure-as-code, ideally with TypeScript CDK, is required.
Fluency with relational databases and data modeling is a must.
Candidates should be clear communicators in written, visual, and verbal forms.
Self-direction and comfort in a high-autonomy, low-ego culture are important.
