  • The Senior Backend Engineer and Architect will build secure infrastructure and software services for mission-critical national security operations.
  • As the first engineering hire, this role involves close collaboration with the technical product manager and co-founders to develop resilient, scalable systems for government and industry customers.
  • Responsibilities include leading the development of secure backend services, creating intuitive interfaces, and establishing engineering culture while mentoring junior engineers.
  • Key responsibilities include owning software delivery decisions, partnering on software planning with Design and Product, leading the engineering team, building secure multi-tenant services on public cloud platforms, and advocating for product quality improvements.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must have 8+ years of progressively responsible software engineering experience.
  • Extensive experience with Python, FastAPI, Postgres, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform is required.
  • Demonstrable in-depth knowledge of at least one major commercial cloud platform and its associated services (e.g., AWS, GCP) is necessary.
  • Candidates should have led the architecture, development, and building of backend services and APIs to ensure performance, security, and reliability.
  • An ability to successfully own technical problems end-to-end is essential.
  • Candidates should have experience learning from past mistakes and successes to understand what good looks like in software development.
  • Excellent communication skills are required for working with end-users to design and build solutions, along with a habit of self-directed learning and adaptability to a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and reside in the U.S., and be eligible for TS/SCI clearance.

Benefits:

  • The salary range for this position is $175,000 - $195,000 USD.
  • The position offers the flexibility of remote work, with a preference for candidates located near Washington D.C., Colorado Springs, or El Segundo, CA.
