Remote Senior Backend Engineer

• As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will significantly impact technical implementation and help guide our technology roadmap.
• You will help drive backend architecture to the next stage of Roof’s systems.
• You will work in a fast-paced cross-functional team that values doing things ‘the right way’.
• You will contribute to all aspects of the Software Development Lifecycle, from planning to delivery.
• You will collaborate with cross-functional team members to develop technical requirements.
• You will write clean code to develop functional web applications and reusable libraries.
• You will write unit, functional, and acceptance tests.
• You will troubleshoot and support production applications.

Requirements:

• You must have 5+ years of software development experience.
• You should be proficient with the PHP language and Laravel framework.
• You must be a champion of agile methodologies and enjoy shipping code often and confidently.
• You should have a track record of breaking down complex problems into incremental solutions.
• You must proactively recommend initiatives to improve our engineering technologies and culture.
• You should enjoy working in a collaborative environment where everyone helps each other grow.
• You must take ownership of the product and be proud of the quality of your work.
• You should have excellent communication skills and appreciate the value of good documentation.
• You must understand the challenges of early-stage company priorities.
• Skills in DevOps, Big Data / Data Science, Machine Learning, and GIS are preferred.
