The Senior Bioinformatics Engineer will guide the technical direction of the Trailmaker platform and contribute hands-on across the full stack.
The role involves collaborating with other engineers to architect and build new features that enhance user engagement.
The work environment is highly collaborative, with no division between backend, frontend, or testing roles, allowing each engineer to contribute to any part of the codebase.
This position is full-time and 100% remote.
Requirements:
Candidates must have a passion for building tools that will be used by thousands of single cell researchers.
A track record of designing, building, and improving data analysis software that addresses user problems is required.
A degree in bioinformatics or a similar field, along with 8+ years of experience in bioinformatics engineering roles, is necessary.
Specifically, candidates should have 5+ years of bioinformatics engineering experience and 3+ years in a senior-level role leading technical decisions.
Proficiency in Python and R is essential.
Advanced skills in building bioinformatics pipelines using Nextflow or similar frameworks are required.
Practical experience with open source single cell data analysis tools and packages, such as Scanpy and Seurat, is necessary.
Significant professional experience in web development is required.
Experience with version control systems like Git/GitHub is essential.
Competency in working with container-based cloud applications, ideally on AWS, is required.
Strong data visualization skills and experience in conducting code reviews are necessary.
Candidates should have a desire to work as part of a close-knit team.

The market pay range for this position is €60,000 - €85,000 EUR, with exact compensation determined based on education, experience, skills, and geographic location.
