Remote Senior Data Analytics Engineer

Description:

• ChowNow is a leading player in off-premise restaurant technology, helping over 20,000 restaurants across North America.
• The company processes over $1B in gross food sales and saves partners over $700M in third-party commission fees.
• As a Senior Data Analytics Engineer, you will be responsible for ChowNow’s data platform, built on Snowflake, dbt, and AWS.
• You will partner with others to build tools that inject high-quality data and insights into internal decision-making and customer-facing products.
• This role is remote and reports to a Senior Engineering Manager, with no direct reports.
• You will progress through a new hire onboarding experience, learn the current state of data at ChowNow, and work closely with product and business stakeholders.
• Within 30 days, you will understand ChowNow’s analytics engineering practices and contribute to the dbt code base.
• Within 60 days, you will improve data pipeline and transformations and establish relationships with key data stakeholders.
• Within 90 days, you will help shape the evolving modern data stack and identify opportunities to improve the data platform.

Requirements:

• You must have excellent skills in analytical SQL.
• You should have at least 5+ years of data modeling experience and 2+ years of hands-on experience using dbt in a production environment.
• A strong understanding of cloud data warehouses, particularly Snowflake, is required.
• You should be comfortable using Python for orchestration, integration, and scripting work.
• You need 3+ years of experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Sigma Computing.
• A passion for diving into data to understand its business implications is essential.
• You should enjoy collaborating with multiple stakeholders within and outside the Data & Analytics team.
• An iterative, agile-like development process with frequent releases should be appealing to you.
• You must take pleasure in writing quality, maintainable code and documentation.
• You should thrive in environments that support your growth and where you can support others.
• A keen interest in new technologies and staying updated in the industry is necessary.
• You should have a passion for fitting pragmatic solutions to problems.
