Remote Senior Data Engineer (Analytics Platform) (m/f/x) (onsite/remote in Germany)

Description:

• Develop a scalable, cloud-based data platform for analytics and business intelligence, leveraging state-of-the-art data technologies.
• Shape an AWS-based data processing system, ingesting data from internal backend services and third parties.
• Extend the lakehouse to empower various teams in decision-making, driving innovation, performance optimization, and strategic objectives.
• Prepare and clean structured and unstructured data, developing high-quality data models for advanced analytics and AI use cases.
• Design and implement testing and monitoring components to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and performance of data pipelines.
• Collaborate closely with highly ambitious and skilled individuals in growing data teams, as well as product and engineering colleagues to release smart features for products.
• Support the creation of interactive dashboards and reporting solutions for stakeholders, including management, marketing, sales, and quantitative research.
• Stay updated with the latest industry developments in data engineering and cloud architecture, sharing expertise and best practices within the company.

Requirements:

• A university degree in computer science, mathematics, natural sciences, or a similar field is required.
• Significant experience in data engineering is necessary.
• Hands-on experience designing and operating data pipelines in AWS with services like S3, Athena, DMS, and Glue is essential.
• Excellent SQL skills, including advanced concepts such as window functions; experience with dbt is a plus.
• Advanced knowledge of cloud networking and security (AWS IAM, VPC, Security Groups, etc.) is required.
• Proficiency and experience with Infrastructure as Code, ideally Terraform, is necessary.
• Strong programming skills in Python, ideally including Airflow and data processing frameworks such as PySpark, are required.
• Experience with data streaming technologies like Kafka, Kinesis, Flink, and Spark Streaming is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving and organizational skills are essential.
• Fluent English communication and presentation skills are required.
