The Senior Data Engineer will be responsible for building and optimizing data systems that support advanced machine learning and AI solutions.
This role focuses on designing and maintaining scalable data pipelines to ensure timely, accurate, and secure data delivery for analytics and product innovation.
The position requires collaboration with data science, engineering, and business teams to enhance member experiences and provide actionable insights.
Success in this role will be measured by the ability to innovate, solve complex problems, and drive best practices within the data engineering discipline.
Key accountabilities include designing, implementing, and optimizing data transformation pipelines, ensuring data systems meet high standards of quality, reliability, and performance, and developing monitoring and testing strategies for data processes.
The role also involves supporting incident response for data-related outages and evaluating tools and frameworks to enhance data platform capabilities.
Mentoring peers and contributing to the maturity of engineering practices is expected, along with strong communication skills to work across technical and non-technical teams.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 7+ years of professional SQL development experience and 5+ years of Python development experience.
Proficiency with DAG-based pipeline orchestration tools such as Airflow, Dagster, or Prefect is required.
Knowledge of data access patterns including caching, partitioning, and sharding is necessary.
Experience with data modeling, data structures, and data warehousing best practices is essential.
Candidates should have experience in at least two of the following areas: ML/AI training and inference pipelines, streaming/event pipelines using Kafka or similar technologies, familiarity with FHIR JSON-based storage models, or experience with graph data models and databases.
