Overstory is seeking a Senior Data Engineer for the Data Ingestion team to focus on ingesting satellite imagery and other geospatial data from external sources.
The role involves building and maintaining data pipelines, creating new processes to efficiently scale data processing and modeling capabilities, and mentoring junior engineers.
Responsibilities include optimizing existing processes, creating new systems, and reducing manual work required to process various types of geospatial data.
The engineer will ensure that processes can handle 3x year-over-year growth and will take the lead on key initiatives while coaching other team members.
Requirements:
Candidates should be passionate about climate and have approximately 6+ years of experience in Data Engineering.
A product-minded approach with the ability to demonstrate significant impact through technology application is required.
Proven experience in data engineering with technologies such as Python and data pipelines is necessary.
Comfort in a build it, run it environment (GCP, cloud run, grafana, k8s) or similar is essential.
The ability to design and implement scalable and resilient systems is required.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a cross-functional team environment are necessary.
A passion for learning and staying updated with evolving technologies and industry trends is important.
Candidates must be based in the GMT, CET, or EST time zone.
Nice to have: Proven experience in geospatial data engineering with technologies like GDAL/OGR, PostGIS DB, and QGIS.
