The Senior Data Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining sophisticated software and data platforms.
This role involves solving business problems with technical solutions and contributing to architectural decisions.
The engineer will mentor junior engineers and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, scalable software solutions.
Responsibilities include database design and architecture, performance monitoring and tuning, security and compliance, backup and recovery, data integration and ETL support, monitoring and incident response, and specific responsibilities for MariaDB, MongoDB, and Databricks.
The position requires collaboration with developers, data scientists, and DevOps engineers, as well as maintaining documentation and providing training for database tools.
Requirements:
A bachelor's or master’s degree in computer science, Data Science, or a related field is required.
Candidates must have 5+ years of experience in data engineering, focusing on data architecture, ETL, and database management.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python/PySpark and Java or Scala is necessary.
Expertise in big data technologies like Hadoop, Spark, and Kafka is required.
In-depth knowledge of SQL and experience with various database technologies, including PostgreSQL, MariaDB, MySQL, and NoSQL databases, is essential.
Experience in building complex end-to-end data pipelines and familiarity with orchestration and job scheduling using CI/CD tools like Jenkins, Airflow, or Databricks is needed.
Candidates should have the ability to lead ETL migration from Talend to Databricks PySpark and demonstrate building capabilities and reusable utilities for complex business processes.
Experience working in an Agile environment and the ability to mentor junior team members are important.
Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their data services is required.
Strong leadership, problem-solving, decision-making skills, and excellent communication and collaboration abilities are essential.
Familiarity or certification in Databricks is a plus.
