The Senior Data Engineer will be part of the Delivery team at Overstory, which consists of Data Scientists, Data Engineers, and Solutions Engineers.
This role involves connecting the business and technology departments, ensuring the execution and quality of analyses for customers, handling customer requests, and spearheading new analysis features.
The Data Engineer will support both operational needs and infrastructure development, spending approximately 50% of their time on operational support and 50% on feature development, gradually shifting towards more feature development.
Responsibilities include owning day-to-day operational responsibilities, developing data-driven solutions, building and improving technologies, automating analysis processes, identifying bottlenecks, and ensuring performance and scalability of data pipelines.
The role requires collaboration with various teams, including Customer Success, Sales, and Data Acquisition, and involves mentoring other engineers.
Requirements:
Candidates should be passionate about climate and have approximately 5 years of experience in Data Engineering, including experience in a startup environment.
A product-minded approach is necessary, with the ability to demonstrate significant impact through technology.
Proven experience with technologies such as Python, data orchestration platforms (e.g., Airflow, Luigi, Dagster), data quality frameworks, and data lakes/warehouses is required.
The ability to design and implement scalable and resilient data systems is essential.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a cross-functional team environment are necessary.
A passion for learning and staying updated with evolving technologies and industry trends is expected.
