The Senior Data Engineer will lead data engineering efforts, driving innovation and growth within the company.
Responsibilities include designing, developing, and optimizing large-scale data ingestion, transformation, and processing pipelines for various data types.
The role involves leading the integration of multi-cloud and hybrid data platforms, defining data architecture standards, and managing SQL-based transformations using Dataform.
The engineer will introduce real-time streaming solutions, establish data quality frameworks, and collaborate with Data Governance teams.
Security, privacy, and compliance standards will be implemented within data pipelines, and the engineer will mentor junior team members.
The position requires partnering with Data Science and BI teams to deliver data products and acting as a subject matter expert in cross-functional projects.
The engineer will research emerging technologies, drive automation in data workflows, and optimize data storage and compute costs.
Requirements:
A minimum of 7 years of experience in data engineering with a proven track record of leading teams is required.
Expert-level SQL skills, including advanced query optimization and performance tuning, are essential.
Proven experience with Microsoft SQL Server, Azure SQL DB, Azure Managed Instance, Google BigQuery, and Google Cloud Platform is necessary.
Familiarity with Dbt. Cloud or Dataform for data modeling, testing, and deployment is required.
Experience with data ingestion tools such as Airbyte, Azure Data Factory, and Fivetran is needed.
Strong programming skills in Python and at least one additional language (Java, Scala, or Go) are preferred.
Experience with streaming architectures like Kafka, Pub/Sub, Spark Streaming, or Flink is required.
Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Pulumi, or Deployment Manager is necessary.
A strong understanding of modern data architectures, including Medallion and Data Mesh Lakehouse, is required.
Hands-on experience with CI/CD for data and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) is essential.
Proficiency in Agile delivery methodologies is required.
Preferred qualifications include knowledge of machine learning pipelines, prior experience in FinTech or regulated industries, and exposure to Looker or similar BI tools.
