Remote (Senior) Data Engineer (m/f/x) (onsite / remote in Germany)

Description:

• Develop a scalable cloud-based data backbone that drives the data-driven company using the latest technologies in the data space.
• Shape an AWS-based batch data processing and data streaming solution, ingesting data from internal backend services and third parties.
• Create a financial data warehouse that combines the latest technologies with features required due to regulatory needs.
• Prepare and clean structured and unstructured data, developing high-quality data models for reporting, advanced analytics, and AI use cases.
• Collaborate with highly ambitious and skilled individuals in the growing data teams.
• Work closely with data scientists, product, and development colleagues to release smart features for the product.
• Share expert knowledge about data best practices within the company.

Requirements:

• Possess an excellent university degree in computer science, mathematics, natural sciences, or a similar field, along with relevant working experience.
• Have experience designing and operating data pipelines in AWS.
• Demonstrate excellent SQL skills, including advanced concepts such as window functions; experience with dbt is strongly desired.
• Exhibit very good programming skills in Python, ideally including Airflow and data processing frameworks (e.g., PySpark).
• Knowledge of Java and Kotlin is considered a plus.
• Have experience with AWS Services like S3, Athena, DMS, and Glue.
• Be experienced in using infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform.
• Show a passion for everything-as-code, with well-architected, testable, and documented code.
• Be data-driven and proficient with numbers, capable of explaining complex concepts in simple terms.
• Have experience using agile frameworks like Scrum.
• Understand data governance requirements for a regulated industry.
• Display an interest in financial services and markets.
• Possess fluent English communication and presentation skills.
• Have a sense of humor and a positive outlook on life.
