The Senior Data Infrastructure Engineer will manage large-scale data platforms, ensuring their performance, scalability, and alignment with business goals.
This role involves supporting a large number of Redshift and PostgreSQL databases running in a hybrid cloud environment, including RDS, Aurora, Redshift, EnterpriseDB, and community editions, covering the entire lifecycle from new builds to upgrades and retirements.
The engineer will partner with development teams to engineer next-generation flagship products, managing high availability architectures, disaster recovery, and backup/restore processes.
Responsibilities include creating repeatable builds, automation, documentation, monitoring, and observability, as well as participating in design and application review sessions.
The role requires developing Python and shell scripts, procedures, and processes for data migration and application development.
Participation in meetings and conference calls related to project and troubleshooting activities is expected.
The engineer will develop a strong working knowledge of key applications and their interactions with the databases.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 7+ years of experience working in an AWS cloud environment in a similar role.
Strong experience in building and working with complex Redshift deployments is required, along with hands-on experience in Infrastructure as Code (IaC), specifically Terraform.
Deep proficiency in Python and SQL is essential.
Working experience with version control systems, CI/CD practices, and collaboration with development teams using modern toolsets, specifically Git, Bitbucket, GitHub, and VSCode on a MacOS platform, is necessary.
Proven experience with observability and monitoring at scale is required.
A firm understanding of Data Governance and contributing to those initiatives and technologies is expected, along with experience working with data engineers using cloud data warehouse technologies (Redshift, BigQuery, Snowflake) and orchestration tools (Airflow, Prefect, Dagster).
Understanding of data lakehouse patterns (Iceberg, Delta Lake), vector stores, and graph databases is preferred.
Candidates should be capable of managing multiple diverse projects in an agile environment.
A Bachelor’s degree in computer information systems, computer science, or a related discipline is preferred.
Experience working directly with application developers in terms of database design, performance tuning, and troubleshooting is a nice-to-have.
The ability to write, debug, and tune SQL and PL/pgSQL, as well as a preference for documentation and diagramming of all systems and databases, is important.
Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills are required.
The ability to work independently and own complex problems to resolution is essential.

The base salary for this position ranges from $147,000 to $183,000 annually, depending on location, experience, and qualifications, with additional compensation offerings including a company profit-sharing bonus program, communication stipends, and referral bonuses.
