Description:

  • The engineer will manage event flows with Google Pub/Sub and ensure SLO dashboards are operational in the Grafana/Loki stack.
  • The position emphasizes observability and reliability, including instrumenting pipelines with logs, metrics, and traces, leading incident responses, and automating fixes.
  • Collaboration across the company is essential, including working with Data Ops engineers and Product managers.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must have solid Python engineering skills, including idiomatic code, testing, packaging, and CI/CD.
  • Experience using Kubernetes, including Helm, pod debugging, and cluster logs, is required.
  • Familiarity with modern data stacks such as Airbyte, Dagster, dbt, and BigQuery is preferred.
  • Candidates should be comfortable with SQL for analysis and debugging, and have exposure to pub/sub or streaming systems like GCP Pub/Sub, Kafka, or Kinesis.
  • A bias for automation, observability, and clean documentation is necessary.
  • Experience delivering end-to-end data pipelines or platform services from design through deployment is required.
  • Evidence of technical leadership or architecture ownership is essential.
  • Comfort with Infrastructure-as-Code tools like Terraform or Pulumi and cost/performance tuning in GCP (or AWS/Azure) is needed.
  • Experience designing large-scale, mission-critical data platforms is required.
  • A collaborative working style, including mentoring engineers and leading incident response or performance initiatives, is important.
