This position is for a Senior Data Reliability Engineer at Calendly, located in the United States.

The engineer will work closely with development teams to optimize and maintain robust, scalable database systems using technologies like PostgreSQL, Redis, Kubernetes, and Google Cloud.
Responsibilities include owning and managing the organization’s relational and non-relational database infrastructure.
The engineer will develop tools and automation to enhance the reliability, scalability, and observability of data systems.
Support will be provided for a wide range of technologies including PostgreSQL, Redis, PgBouncer, Datadog, and Google Cloud Platform.
Collaboration with engineering teams is essential to improve database usage, modeling, queries, and instrumentation.
The role involves building and maintaining self-service database tooling using Kubernetes, Helm, and custom operators.
The engineer will partner with internal teams to ensure successful adoption of best practices across the engineering organization.
Proactive measures will be taken to ensure high system uptime and play a critical role in incident response and recovery.
Deep expertise in managing production database environments, especially PostgreSQL, is required.
Proficiency with cloud infrastructure, particularly Google Cloud Platform, and distributed systems is necessary.
Experience with Helm, Kubernetes, and building internal developer tools is expected.
Strong knowledge of observability and reliability engineering principles is essential.
The candidate should have demonstrated success in optimizing databases and supporting development teams at scale.

The position offers a competitive base salary based on location, with Tier 1 (e.g., NYC, SF) salaries ranging from $178,560 to $267,840 USD, Tier 2 (e.g., Austin, Boston) from $163,680 to $245,520 USD, and Tier 3 (all other locations) from $148,800 to $223,200 USD.
