  • The role involves bridging multiple software teams and the centralized DevOps organization.
  • The Senior DevOps Engineer will champion developer experience, advocate for best practices, and turn ambiguous challenges into clear, scalable solutions.
  • Responsibilities include spending quality time with software engineering teams to understand their workflows, championing tooling improvements, and developing shared libraries and CI/CD pipelines.
  • The position is available in Umbra's Santa Barbara, CA or Arlington, VA office, with consideration for remote applicants.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience is required.
  • Candidates must have 8+ years of cloud infrastructure, DevOps, or cloud engineering experience.
  • Knowledge of microservices and serverless architectures is necessary.
  • A deep working knowledge of AWS services and best practices is required.
  • Expertise in infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation is essential.
  • Proficiency in Python, Go, or another scripting/programming language is needed.
  • Strong experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes) is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitLab, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions is necessary.
  • Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and observability tools such as Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK is required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
