The Senior Engineer will primarily support SAS transition priorities by creating and converting existing SAS code to Spark.
Responsibilities include optimizing Spark job performance, designing and maintaining backend software components, and researching proof of concepts in the data space.
The role requires writing clean, maintainable code, performing code reviews, debugging defects, and creating technical documentation.
Active participation in Agile ceremonies and assisting in project planning and prioritization is expected.
The engineer will evaluate new technologies and frameworks, engage in professional development, and assist in implementing security and compliance policies within the AWS environment.
Requirements:
Strong experience with Apache Spark and Python is required.
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field is necessary.
Candidates must have at least 10 years of experience in software development.
AWS experience, including S3, EC2, Glue, and Lambda, is essential.
A strong understanding of software design patterns, data structures, and algorithms is required.
Experience with Agile development methodologies is necessary.
The ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills are required.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
Related experience in analytic programming, data extraction, querying databases/data warehouses, and data analysis is required.
Benefits:
The salary range for this position is $128,700 - $153,400 a year.
Candidates must be US citizens or provide documented proof of eligibility to work in the US and have lived in the US for at least the past 3 years.
Successful candidates will undergo a background investigation by the government and must meet the requirements to hold a position of Public Trust.
