Planet is a company that designs, builds, and operates the largest constellation of imaging satellites in history, delivering an unprecedented dataset of empirical information via a cloud-based platform.
As a Senior Flight Dynamics Engineer, you will be part of a small team responsible for Flight Dynamics and Mission Planning for Planet’s fleet of satellites.
Your responsibilities will include mission design, orbit determination, maneuver design and execution, and conjunction assessment & mitigation.
You will also focus on optimal scheduling of imaging and contacts for Planet’s various satellite constellations, impacting the operations of the world’s largest heterogeneous constellation of Earth Observation satellites.
The role involves developing and automating tools to assess mission design trade-offs that will shape the future of Planet's constellations.
This is a full-time, remote position based in the United States.
Requirements:
An advanced degree in aerospace engineering, physics, or a related technical field is required.
A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience is necessary.
A strong background in orbital mechanics and space mission operations is essential.
Proficiency in software development using C++ and Python is required.
The ability to carry out first-principles analysis and operationalize MVP solutions is necessary.
Excellent written and verbal technical communication skills are required.
