Smoking Gun Interactive is seeking a Senior Game Designer with industry experience in game design for mobile products.
The role requires hands-on experience in designing systems, balancing gameplay mechanics, level design, puzzle design, and visual/interactive elements of UI.
The designer will collaborate with the Lead Designer and Design Director to deliver the creative vision for the project.
Responsibilities include working closely with the UI/UX Designer, Producer, and Client to create best-in-class experiences.
The designer will build strong design documentation to serve as the source of truth for all team members.
The role involves developing, building, tuning, and documenting gameplay mechanics to final quality while adhering to the design vision.
The designer will track and analyze game data, creating reports with suggested design changes based on gameplay data.
Adjustments to game mechanics designs will be made to balance gameplay based on analytics.
Collaboration with art and programming disciplines is essential to achieve project goals.
The designer will maintain a high proficiency in workflows and pipelines, collaborating to improve tools and methodologies.
A high level of quality in all aspects of work is expected, along with taking initiative in creative problem-solving.
The designer will help liaise between the design team and QA.
This position is remote but only open to applicants located within the greater Vancouver area.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 3-5 years of experience as a game designer.
Experience with at least 2 shipped titles as a game designer on mobile and PC games is required.
The ideal candidate should have experience designing for UI-centric games and tuning complex gameplay systems.
Familiarity with game analytics and running a live product is necessary.
Demonstrable expertise in game mechanics design and tuning is essential.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required to communicate ideas clearly.
Candidates must be able to accept and provide direction, work well under pressure, and handle multiple tasks.
A self-driven attitude with the ability to work independently without supervision is crucial.
Experience in understanding the market and target audience for mobile, online, and console games is preferred.
A willingness to innovate within game parameters and a positive attitude towards gaming are important.
