Remote Senior IT Security Engineer (Azure)

Description:

• The Senior IT Security Engineer will be responsible for protecting the company’s information systems from internal and external threats.
• This person will support the IT Security Engineering Manager to ensure proper security functions are maintained to protect company and customer data.
• This position enables the company to meet its business objectives by increasing the security of the company’s Hybrid Network while lowering the risk of misuse of information and denial of service.
• Essential duties include designing, implementing, and managing network security infrastructure such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, load balancers, and web proxies.
• The engineer will also design, implement, and manage Azure cloud security solutions.
• They will work with vendors concerning security and network access requirements, implementing appropriate network access and ensuring network security.
• The role involves assessing current and proposed network designs and proactively making recommendations based on business requirements and security best practices.
• Conducting periodic audits of new and existing implementations to ensure compliance with corporate security standards is also a key responsibility.
• The engineer will develop technical solutions and execute measures to help mitigate security vulnerabilities and automate repeatable tasks.

Requirements:

• A Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, cyber security, or a related field is preferred but not required.
• Active Information Security certifications such as CISSP or SANS GIAC are preferred.
• Candidates must have 5+ years of experience in cyber security/information security with an emphasis on cloud and on-premises network security infrastructure in a high availability, high-capacity environment.
• Hands-on experience in information security systems, including Checkpoint firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, authentication systems, log management, web proxy/content filtering, and Security Service Edge is required.
• Extensive cloud security experience, especially focused on Microsoft Azure, is necessary.
• Knowledge of infrastructure as code (IAC) tools like Terraform, Crossplane, and Azure Resource Manager is required.
• Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, and Azure Container Instances is essential.
• Candidates should possess advanced knowledge of cloud and on-premises network security standards/best practices, design, and implementation.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure are necessary.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, are required to clearly communicate with business partners and management.
