Remote Senior Java Software Engineer in SRE (f/m/d)

Description:

• The company is a successful start-up in Europe since 2012, based in Berlin, with a focus on redefining the used car market through innovative technology.
• The role is for an experienced Software Engineer in the Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team, collaborating with the engineering department and working closely with Senior and Expert engineers as well as Team Leads from all Business Units.
• The SRE team aims to balance resilience, maintenance, high availability, infrastructure costs, and development lifecycle velocity.
• Responsibilities include improving tools for operational excellence, advocating for continuous monitoring, self-healing systems, and alert transparency.
• The engineer will own and guide critical incident mitigations and drive blameless postmortems.
• Troubleshooting and timely problem-solving of production incidents is a key part of the role.
• The engineer will define key Service Level Indicators (SLIs) and help shape business and quality-focused Service Level Objectives (SLOs) with Product Managers (PMs).

Requirements:

• Proficiency in Java or another JVM language is required, with resilient knowledge in PHP, Golang, or Python considered a plus.
• A can-do attitude is essential for working within high-performing, distributed teams.
• Good time-management, strong communication, and collaboration skills in remote environments are necessary.
• Production-proven and resilient SRE expertise is required.
• Understanding of Cloud and Distributed Systems challenges is essential.
• Experience in leveraging Telemetry Tools to ensure quality and operational excellence is necessary.
• An intrinsic drive to delve deep into complex tasks and incidents, along with a natural inclination to share knowledge with peers, is required.
