Remote Senior Machine Learning Engineer

Description:

• Capital Technology Group (CTG) is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to support high-impact civic tech within the federal government.
• The role involves leading the evaluation of new or emerging technologies through prototypes and proofs of concept.
• The engineer will analyze and communicate the benefits and risks of adopting new technologies.
• Responsibilities include serving as a hands-on technical lead across development, operations, and security in cloud environments.
• The Senior Machine Learning Engineer will guide the enterprise-wide adoption of modern tools, cloud platforms, and AI/ML solutions.
• The position requires providing technical leadership and mentorship to junior IT specialists and engineers.
• The role balances hands-on engineering with strategic architectural planning and system design.

Requirements:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required.
• Candidates must have 8+ years of professional experience in software engineering or IT.
• Proficiency in Python and experience with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch is necessary.
• Experience in deploying, tuning, and maintaining ML models in production (MLOps) is required.
• Familiarity with Amazon SageMaker is essential.
• Candidates should have experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure), with deep AWS experience strongly preferred.
• Strong DevOps skills, including CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code (CDK or Terraform), automation, and monitoring, are required.
• Full-stack development experience is necessary, including:
  • Frontend: React, TypeScript
  • Backend: Python, Pandas, Scikit-learn
  • Data: PostgreSQL, S3
  • Infrastructure as Code: Terraform or AWS CDK
• Strong system architecture skills are required, with the ability to design secure, scalable systems.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills are essential.
• Candidates must demonstrate the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new projects and technologies.
