AECOM is seeking a Senior/Principal Control & Protection (C&P) Engineer to join their dynamic Transmission and Distribution business in the UK & Ireland.
The role involves developing, refining, and optimizing P&C solutions, including creating key line diagrams, schematic diagrams, relay settings, SCADA topology diagrams, wiring diagrams, design specifications, and interface drawings for various Transmission & Distribution clients.
The engineer will review designs produced by suppliers to ensure technical compliance with National Grid/Client policies and standards.
The position includes acting as an Owner’s Engineer to review and comment on supplier designs and calculations on behalf of HV Clients, including for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and Renewables projects.
The role may require conducting Protection Coordination Studies and Settings calculations using ETAP or similar software.
Requirements:
Candidates must have an electrical/power engineering qualification, such as an HNC, HND, BSc/BEng, and/or an MSc/Meng.
Knowledge of the transmission HV design process, particularly with National Grid or SSE, and related project experience is essential.
Extensive experience in P&C Front End Engineering Design (FEED) or detailed design of high voltage installations (132kV to 400kV) is required.
The ideal candidate should be a good team player with a client-focused mindset and strong customer-facing skills.
The ability to work flexibly across multiple projects is necessary.
Strong experience working with transmission voltages of 275kV/400kV is required, along with a background in consulting, utility, renewable generation, or Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) sectors.
