The role is remote, but candidates must attend meetings in the Sacramento area several times a year and work business hours, Monday-Friday, Pacific Time Zone.
The Senior Principal Data Scientist will lead the strategic direction and hands-on execution of data science work, shaping the delivery of modern data science from model development to workflow optimization.
Responsibilities include evaluating and advancing the use of data science models, algorithms, and libraries, ensuring best-in-class approaches and platform capabilities.
The role requires collaboration with internal and state employee data science teams to drive knowledge sharing and alignment.
This is a hands-on role that involves writing code, building models, deploying solutions, and mentoring others.
Requirements:
Candidates must have deep hands-on experience building and deploying data science models and machine learning solutions.
Mastery of key statistical, machine learning, and AI libraries such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and XGBoost is required.
A proven track record in evaluating and optimizing data science tooling and environments is essential.
Experience in mentoring and integrating data science teams is necessary.
Strong programming skills in Python, R, or similar languages are required.
