• Speridian Technologies is recruiting for a Senior Principal Data Scientist for the Department of Healthcare Services, Behavioral Health in California.
• This position is part of a long-term, fully budgeted technology modernization project involving various cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
• The role is remote, but candidates must attend meetings in the Sacramento area several times a year and work business hours, Monday-Friday, Pacific Time Zone.
• The Senior Principal Data Scientist will lead the strategic direction and hands-on execution of data science work, shaping the delivery of modern data science from model development to workflow optimization.
• Responsibilities include evaluating and advancing the use of data science models, algorithms, and libraries, ensuring best-in-class approaches and platform capabilities.
• The role requires collaboration with internal and state employee data science teams to drive knowledge sharing and alignment.
• This is a hands-on role that involves writing code, building models, deploying solutions, and mentoring others.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have deep hands-on experience building and deploying data science models and machine learning solutions.
• Mastery of key statistical, machine learning, and AI libraries such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and XGBoost is required.
• A proven track record in evaluating and optimizing data science tooling and environments is essential.
• Experience in mentoring and integrating data science teams is necessary.
• Strong programming skills in Python, R, or similar languages are required.
• Candidates should have experience defining standards and best practices within data science teams.
