Remote Senior Security Engineer (Application & Cloud Security)

Description:

• MagicSchool is a generative AI platform for teachers, with over 6 million users globally.
• The Senior Security Engineer (Application & Cloud Security) will lead the development of secure engineering practices across products and infrastructure.
• This is a hands-on, individual contributor role focused on threat modeling, secure architecture, and application security across a multi-cloud stack.
• The position requires collaboration with engineering, product, IT, and compliance teams.
• The role reports directly to the VP of Engineering and is critical for protecting systems used by educators and students.
• This position is remote and based in the US.

Requirements:

• At least 5 years of experience in application or cloud security, with a proven track record in fast-paced technical environments.
• Hands-on experience with secure development tooling such as SAST, DAST, and SCA, and cloud-native security in AWS and/or Google Cloud.
• Strong experience in conducting or facilitating threat modeling using formal frameworks or team-based approaches.
• Ability to communicate complex security topics to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, with skills in influencing engineering teams.
• Experience coaching engineers or teams on security principles while integrating security without hindering developer velocity.
