Remote Senior Security Research Engineer

Description:

• SpyCloud is seeking a Senior Security Research Engineer to join their mission of making the internet safer by disrupting the criminal underground.
• The role is focused on building internal security tooling and data pipelines using public cloud infrastructure within SpyCloud Labs.
• Responsibilities include designing, implementing, and maintaining internal tooling for acquiring and parsing recaptured underground data.
• The engineer will build and deploy cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code technologies and automated CI/CD pipelines.
• Collaboration with the research team is essential to support the targeting and collection of new data sources.
• The position requires being a subject matter expert on Security Research Engineering and the data acquisition process.
• The engineer will identify improvements and automation opportunities in the recaptured data workflow and ETL pipelines.
• Participation in security research, including the investigation of threat actors and malware, is expected.
• Mentoring junior security researchers and engineers through code review and guidance on professional development is also part of the role.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have 5+ years of experience in a Senior role within cybersecurity engineering.
• A minimum of 6+ years of professional software development experience, preferably in the cybersecurity industry, is required.
• Proficiency in Python is essential, and knowledge of Golang is a plus.
• Experience in building internal tooling and deploying using Infrastructure as Code technologies, specifically Terraform and Ansible, is necessary.
• A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Math, Science, Engineering, or Business fields is required.
• The candidate should be self-directed and able to identify and deliver on tasks without direct supervision.
• Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to support collaborative problem-solving in a team environment are important.
• Excellent communication skills are required.
• The ideal candidate should be highly self-motivated, empathetic, curious, and flexible.
