UpDoc is building the world's first clinically validated, physician-supervised conversational agent that manages chronic diseases.
The position is for a Senior Software Engineer, AI, primarily working on UpDoc’s patient-facing conversational agent.
This is a fully remote position.
The engineer will lead the development of the conversational agent and implement a scalable, low-latency system for voice/multimodal conversations.
Responsibilities include implementing rigorous prompt engineering processes, developing metrics for system evaluation, and creating data pipelines for fast experimentation.
The role involves collaborating with other backend engineers to deploy AI models and chat/voice APIs, as well as working with clinical experts to validate performance and medical accuracy.
The engineer will also develop backend services using FastAPI and Pydantic.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 5+ years of professional software development experience, including 2+ years of backend web development experience.
Proficiency in type-hinted, modern Python is required.
Candidates should have 2+ years of experience building end-to-end LLM applications, either personally or professionally.
Experience integrating and optimizing LLMs in production environments is necessary.
Knowledge of evaluation frameworks and MLOps/LLMOps best practices is required.
Experience building AI infrastructure from 0 to 1 is essential.
Familiarity with cloud platforms, especially Azure, and containerization technologies is required.
